General Information

The Mundelein Park and Recreation District is a separate governmental agency established for the purpose of providing parks, facilities and recreation programs for the community.  The Park District is responsible for maintenance, operation, and administration of parks and recreation facilities under its jurisdiction.  The Park District is governed by five elected commissioners who set policy for the operation of the Park District.  Regular park board meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 8:00 pm in the Mundelein Community Center, 1401 North Midlothian Road.  Residents are invited to attend and are welcome to make suggestions or constructive comments to improve programs or facilities that we provide.

Registration Tidbits

  • All programs require a minimum number of participants 7 days before the class begins.  A maximum number is also listed to ensure quality instruction.  Classes may be combined and times modified to facilitate better programs.
  • We do not send program confirmations.  Mark your calendar.  If we are unable to process your registration, we will contact you.
  • If you register during the Random Registration process we cannot guarantee a participant's request to register with another individual.  The computer does not recognize these requests and it is a totally RANDOM process.
  • We are not responsible for faxed or e-mailed registrations.  If you fax or e-mail a registration it is understood that machine error is not the Mundelein Park and Recreation District's responsibility
  • Children must be toilet trained to attend ALL tot and preschool classes unless they are accompanied by a parent.  Only one child will be allowed in class with a parent unless approved by the Park District.  Babysitting is not available..

Safety is a Priority

The Mundelein Park District needs your help in keeping parks clean, safe and free of vandalism.  If you find any broken equipment, or have any other safety concerns about the parks, please contact us at 847-566-0650.  If you see vandalism occurring in the parks, please contact the Mundelein Police Department by calling 911.

The Mundelein Park & Recreation District is committed to providing a safe place for recreational activities and would prefer to enhance the quality of the parks rather than replace vandalized equipment.  Thank you for your support in our efforts to provide the residents of the Park District with quality park sites and facilities.

The following Behavior Code of Conduct will be used as a guideline for Mundelein Park & Recreation District programs:

  • Will show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers.
  • Will follow direction from staff and volunteers.
  • Will show respect to equipment, supplies and facilities.
  • Will not use inappropriate, abusive or foul language.
  • Will not show any aggressive behavior (hitting, punching, slapping, kicking, biting, etc.) regardless if the behavior is initiated or in retaliation.
  • Will not show continuous disruptive behavior.

The Mundelein Park & Recreation District does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants.  Participants should review their personal insurance before registering for a Park District program to be certain of adequate coverage.

Park District Hours

For park District information and rentals, the administration offices are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Click here for Park View Health and Fitness Center Hours.  You can register for all programs during Park View hours.  The Community Center Indoor Pool hours are listed here.

Non Residents Fees

Non Park District residents can now register for our programs at anytime but they will be charged a permanent non resident fee. This new fee will be charged whenever a non resident registers for any program. Previously, non residents paid double the resident fee during the first weeks of registration. They had the option of waiting until after the initial registration period and paying the resident rate. This option will no longer be offered. Non Park District residents do not contribute financial support to the park district through property taxes. To ensure that non residents are paying their fair share to use our programs and facilities, the Board of Commissioners has elected to use this new fee structure.

Resident/Non Residents Defined

The term .resident. used throughout this brochure refers to Mundelein residents who live within Mundelein Park District boundaries and contribute financial support to the Park District through property taxes. Some residents with a Mundelein mailing address may not be residents of the Mundelein Park District. Please contact our Administrative Office at 847-566-0650 if you need residency information.

Family

A family is defined as parents and their unmarried children, up to 21 years of age, residing with them. Children 22 years and older, other relatives and/or individuals in the same household are NOT included in the definition of family.

Photo Policy

Participants of programs and special events permit the taking of photos and videos of themselves and their children during Park District activities for publication in the program brochure, publications, website, flyers and future recreation materials. All photos and videos taken on Park District property are for Park District use and becomes its sole property.
