Mundelein Park & Recreation District held a groundbreaking ceremony for the inclusive park project at Kracklauer Park, 100 N. Seymour Ave., on Wednesday, June 19 at 5:30 pm. Funding for this project was secured after a matching grant award of $600,000 from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program earlier this year was confirmed. This was combined with funds raised within the community, organizations, the Village of Mundelein, various foundations, non-profits, Legislators, and individuals, including the Mundelein Parks Foundation. Construction fencing will soon be put up to start building the inclusive space. The project’s completion goal is Spring 2025, and we are looking forward to celebrating with a ribbon cutting!
