HAUNTED MUSEUM OCTOBER 26 & 29
October 26, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm
On Wednesday October 26 and Saturday October 29 the Mundelein Heritage Museum will
be decorated for All Hallows Eve. Please visit the Museum on these days to experience it in its
spooky, eerie splendor!
On these two days, the museum will present an original, vintage mystery radio broadcast from
the Golden Age of Radio, complete with the original radio commercials. The half-hour shows
will start at 6:30 on Wednesday, and 3:30 on Saturday. Commission Member, Anne Walker, has
selected 2 classics from her collection of over 3,000 vintage radio shows. On Wednesday you
can hear The House in Cyprus Canyon, an installment of the Suspense Radio Show originally
broadcast on December 5, 1946. Saturday, features Corridor of Doom, originally broadcast on
Inner Sanctum Mysteries, October 13, 1945.
Assisting with the preparations for this special event is Puertas, a Hispanic Students’ club from
Mundelein High School. Students will design and prepare one of the display cases to highlight
the Traditional Mexican Celebration of Dia de Los Muertos—Day of the Dead. The exhibit will
remain on display through the end of the Museum season, December 15.
The period of the 1930’s through the 1950’s was known as radio’s ‘golden age’. Before the
television, the radio was the central piece of furniture in the average family’s living room.
Parents and children would gather around the radio to hear the latest installment of their
favorite show, hear the latest news and enjoy sitcoms and dramatic shows, without pictures.
Experience radio’s Golden Age at the Heritage Museum, 601 Noll Drive, on October 26 and
