MPRD staff is excited to begin phase 1 renovations of the Health & Fitness Center. Additional improvements and renovation phases will be announced in the future. The Health & Fitness floor will shutdown on Monday, March 31 and reopen on Wednesday, April 9. The strength & cardio areas, “stretching room”, and indoor track will be closed during the renovation. Areas may reopen earlier, depending on completion of project tasks.
Phase 1 Improvements include:
-
- New activity-specific flooring throughout the spaces to promote accessibility, improve user experience, and diminish sound associated with equipment impact with the floor
- New layout benefiting both the strength & cardio areas
- New equipment to promote a diverse selection of movements/activities and support a range of users
- Visual improvements including new paint and updated appearance
We apologize for the inconvenience during the renovations and have made the following accommodations for Health & Fitness Center members:
- A temporary health & fitness center will be setup on one of the basketball courts in the gymnasium.
- The temporary gym will include a limited selection of treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, dumbbells, and a single squat rack.
- The perimeter of the basketball court will be made available for use as a walking track for interested Health & Fitness Center members and track only members.
- Existing Health & Fitness Center members will be granted access to Lakeview Fitness at Vernon Hills Park District during the shutdown. MPRD Health & Fitness Center members must present a valid Health & Fitness Center membership ID for free access to Lakeview Fitness.
