Jr. Mustangs Basketball Leagues

Mustangs Basketball

A special thank you goes out to the 375+ participants, their families, and the coaches that volunteered time to make this such a memorable season. We witnessed energy that rivals anything seen at our facilities for a very long time. It was an honor to be able to provide an active, recreational learning experience. We will continue to grow and look into ways to enhance the experience even more for next season.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces along with new ones next Fall. Thank you for your support in helping make the Junior Mustangs Basketball league successful.

Registration for 2023/24 Basketball leagues will open on August 16.

Youth Basketball League: Kindergarten

This ten-week league is an introduction to the game of basketball. Participants will work on the fundamentals of the game followed by a short game. Led by Recreation Staff. Click to register.

Youth Basketball Leagues (Grades 1–2)

This is a more traditional league for this age group. After two clinic nights and evaluations, teams will be divided up evenly by the Park District Staff. This league allows children to learn and develop basketball skills, team play, and sportsmanship. Participants gain experience by practicing during the week and playing actual games. The score is kept. However, standings are not. Kids receive equal playing time by rotating into the game every two minutes. Led by Recreation Staff. Click here to register.

Youth Basketball Leagues (Grades 3–8)

This program is an excellent opportunity to develop fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while having fun. This is traditional league play as teams will have one practice per week and ten games. The first week will consist of a clinic day and evaluations before teams are evenly decided. Special requests for team placement can not be honored. Practices and game times vary based on the number of players/teams. Kids will have a minimum requirement of playing time. Practice days may vary based on the coach, team, and availability.

Grades 3–4: Scores are kept but standings are not. Ten games will be played in total.
Grades 5–6: Standings will be kept with playoffs at the end of the season. 9 regular-season games and single-elimination playoffs.
Grades 7–8: Standings will be kept with playoffs at the end of the season. 9 regular-season games and single-elimination playoffs.
