Important Facility Update: Indoor Pool Emergency Shutdown July 21-25 & Sauna Renovation July 10

We want to inform you of an emergency shutdown at the Mundelein Community Center Indoor Swimming Pool, scheduled for Monday, July 21–Friday, July 25.

This shutdown is necessary to replace the hot water heater that supplies hot water to both the indoor pool and MCC locker rooms. In order to safely complete this work, all water to this portion of the building will be temporarily shut off, meaning locker rooms will remain open for use but without running water (hot or cold) during this time. Restrooms near the fitness studios and on the third floor above the fitness & strength areas will remain fully operational, with hot and cold water available.

While the indoor pool is offline, MPRD staff will also clean the rafters to improve air quality and aesthetics.

Program Impacts:

  • All indoor pool swim lessons scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday during the shutdown will be cancelled. A full refund will be issued for the two missed class days.
  • Aquafit and Aqua ROM classes will continue during the shutdown and temporarily relocate outdoors to Barefoot Bay. More details about this adjustment will be shared shortly.

Sauna Update:

We’re excited to share that the sauna is getting an upgrade! It will be temporarily closed Thursday, July 10 from 5 am–5 pm as we complete removal and replacement of all benches, trim, and flooring. This renovation will result in a refreshed sauna experience, and we can’t wait to unveil the final result!

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we complete these essential upgrades and repairs to maintain the quality and safety of your community facilities.
