About Mundy
Mundy joined our team in April, 2025. Mundy Lion wasn’t always a resident of Mundelein, but from the moment he arrived, he knew he had found a special place to call home. His journey brought him from faraway lands, searching for a community where he could make a difference, spread joy, and inspire people of all ages to live active and fulfilling lives.
Mundy had always been a lion with a big heart and an even bigger passion for helping others. He spent years traveling, visiting parks and communities around the world, studying how people came together to stay active and enjoy nature. But something was missing – he had yet to find the perfect place to settle down and truly be part of a community.
Coming To Mundelein—One day, Mundy heard about Mundelein, Illinois – a town known for its beautiful parks, vibrant recreational programs, and strong sense of community. Intrigued, he set off on his biggest adventure yet. When Mundy first set foot (or paw) in Mundelein, he was immediately drawn to the parks, ball fields, and friendly faces of people embracing a special community. He visited the Mundelein Park & Recreation District, where he met staff and residents who shared his passion for recreation and inclusivity. His friendly and energetic personality will quickly make him a familiar face around town. Children will enjoy his playful spirit, families will appreciate his encouragement, and seniors will enjoy his warm and welcoming presence.
A Leader in Recreation and Fun—Mundy’s passion for wellness, inclusivity, and fun make him the perfect representative for the Mundelein Park & Recreation District. He’s excited to officially become the district’s mascot, bringing people together and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle for everyone – from young children to active seniors. Whether he’s cheering at sporting events, participating in outdoor adventures, or enjoying community events, Mundy’s presence will remind everyone that Mundelein is a place where all are welcome, and recreation is for everyone.
Mundy proudly calls Mundelein his forever home, dedicating himself to helping residents stay active, building friendships, and creating a stronger, healthier community – one smile at a time.
