The Mundelein Park & Recreation District has been waiting to move forward with any Longmeadow Park improvements until the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) announces if matching grants funds would be available. IDNR announced over $56 million is appropriated for state-wide park projects.
The District applied for a $400,000 matching grant which allows improvements of walking paths, playgrounds, woodland trails, fishing, gaga pit, and accessibility to the gazebo, and half basketball court. Local legislators support the project and the application was submitted on September 28. If the grant is not awarded to the District, a playground will be installed in 2024. If a grant is awarded, the improvements will occur in Fall, 2023 and Spring, 2024. We will make sure to update the Longmeadow subdivision. Thank you for your patience.
