Six Mundelein Park & Recreation District employees were awarded the honor of Employee of the Year at an annual Employee Recognition event held last weekend.
The Administration Department recognized Dawn Dahl for diligently working to gather Distinguished Accreditation documentation and organizing all the Board Packets, Budget Books, and anything else needed. These tasks required extreme attention to detail and helping other departments to submit the required information.
The Recreation Department recognized Heather Avis for performing her job with a sense of professionalism, customer service, and care that has come to be the gold standard. She was never late and always greeted everyone with a smile and a positive attitude when she opened the building at 4:30 am.
Steeple Chase Golf Club recognized Susan Deaver for stepping up and taking charge in the club’s kitchen to get the golf season going. She was instrumental in setting up and ordering inventory to start the season. Once additional employees were hired, she maintained an elevated role in taking inventory, placing orders, and training our new employees throughout the golf season.
The Park & Facility Maintenance Department recognized Sandra Fonseca for her great work ethic. She is always willing to take on the maintenance tasks that no one likes. She has tirelessly devoted herself to ensuring the parks’ cleanliness, safety, and beauty in 2023. She is always friendly and participates in park district events with her family.
The Board of Commissioners recognized Bill Brolley for leading Steeple Chase Golf Club to the best year in the course’s 30-year history. Revenue for rounds, food and beverage, and merchandise were at all-time highs due to his leadership. Under his direction, the club added two high-quality simulators to add extra revenue and allow many people to keep moving during the winter.
The Board also recognized Ted Costa for serving our District in Park & Facility Maintenance for over 25 years. There isn’t a project that he didn’t finish in 2023 or before. He willingly stepped up to help Steeple Chase, special events, Barefoot Bay, etc. Even in his final year with the District, he gave 110%.
“Every year, I am proud to announce our award winners as I continue to be impressed with the passion and dedication of our employees,” said Ron Salski, Mundelein Park & Recreation District’s Executive Director. “They truly care about the community and their co-workers. Our employees and customers notice the impact of these employees. I want to congratulate and thank each award winner for going above and beyond.”
Also recognized were Ted Costa for 25 years of service; Marcus Kivisto and William Sizemore for ten years; Sarah Bannon, Nicole Schaller, Kathleen Brykalski, and Scott Brykalski for five years.
